Systems Engineer 4

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer 4 to support a high‑visibility national missile defense program focused on Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC). This engineer will contribute to system‑of‑systems performance analysis, integration/test activities, and model‑based systems engineering supporting the defense of the United States and allied forces.

This role is fully onsite in Colorado Springs and requires an active Top Secret clearance on day one.

Responsibilities Include:

• Conduct systems analysis across complex missile defense architectures and operational scenarios.
• Develop and maintain modeling and simulation tools to evaluate system performance against evolving threats.
• Support requirements development, verification, and traceability using MBSE tools.
• Lead and execute integration and test activities, including planning, scheduling, documentation, and results evaluation.
• Perform trade studies, feasibility analysis, and performance assessments to inform system design and capability development.
• Collaborate with engineering SMEs across integration, test, system performance, and architecture domains.
• Develop capability assessments, assessment objectives, and related plans and procedures.
• Improve team productivity through automation, scripting, and tool enhancements.
• Participate in Agile development cycles and iterative engineering processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
• Minimum 5 year of experience in systems engineering (requirements, design, architecture, integration, or test).
• Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Active Top Secret clearance required to start.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of systems engineering experience.
• Ability to obtain or hold a Top Secret clearance.
• Experience with MBSE tools such as CAMEO, DOORS, or System Architect.
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, Java, or similar modeling/simulation languages.
• Background in missile defense, C2BMC, BMDS, air defense, intercept systems, or space systems.
• Experience with requirements verification, automated test development, and scripting.
• Familiarity with Agile development processes.
• Demonstrated experience conducting trade studies, operational analysis, MOEs, feasibility analysis, or system performance analysis.

Compensation for the Systems Engineer 4 includes:

• Salary Range: $140,000-165,000 *Depending on experience/ shift*
