UI/UX Designer Sr.

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer to support a federal technology modernization program. This position is on-site in Huntsville, AL, with standard daytime hours. Candidates must have an active Top Secret security clearance.

The Senior UI/UX Designer will lead the design of accessible, user-centered interfaces for cloud applications, dashboards, and complex data workflows. This contract opportunity has an anticipated duration of more than two years and involves partnering with product and engineering teams to turn mission requirements into intuitive digital experiences.

Responsibilities for the Senior UI/UX Designer include:

• Lead user research, persona development, and workflow analysis to identify user needs and design priorities
• Develop wireframes, user flows, journey maps, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups
• Design responsive dashboards and application interfaces that simplify complex, data-rich workflows
• Incorporate usability, Section 508 accessibility, and applicable security requirements into design decisions
• Create and maintain design systems, style guides, visual assets, and reusable components
• Collaborate with developers and product teams to define design requirements, acceptance criteria, and implementation details
• Conduct usability testing, A/B testing, and interface validation, using findings to refine designs
• Participate in Agile planning and design reviews, document specifications, and present recommendations to stakeholders

Required Qualifications for the Senior UI/UX Designer include:

• Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in UI/UX design, human-centered design, or digital product development
• Demonstrated experience designing complex, data-rich interfaces for enterprise or mission-critical applications
• Proficiency with Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or comparable design tools
• Experience working in Agile or SAFe environments
• Strong user research, prototyping, communication, and collaboration skills
• Ability to translate technical requirements and complex workflows into clear, intuitive user experiences
• Must have an Active Top Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications for the Senior UI/UX Designer include:

• Experience supporting federal law enforcement, Intelligence Community, or national security programs
• Familiarity with cloud applications, data visualization, and microservice architectures
• Experience applying Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, or front-end development concepts to support effective developer collaboration

Compensation for the Senior UI/UX Designer includes:

Salary Range: $145,000–$160,000 annually, depending on experience
