Azure IAM Engineer - 176452 - 176453

Piper Companies is looking to fill the role of Azure IAM Engineer for a leading technology company located in Raleigh, NC. The Azure IAM Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of Azure Entra ID solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in identity and access management (IAM) and a strong understanding of Azure cloud services. The Azure IAM Engineer role is a remote contract position with EST hours and eventual conversion to a full-time role.

Responsibilities of the Azure IAM Engineer Include:

• Design, implement, and support Azure Entra ID (Azure AD) solutions, ensuring secure identity and access management across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Manage identity federation, Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), conditional access, and RBAC/ABAC controls to meet security and business requirements.
• Partner with security, infrastructure, and application teams to integrate Azure Entra ID with enterprise platforms and IAM technologies, including Okta and SailPoint.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Azure identity services while ensuring compliance with government security standards and best practices.
• Develop architecture documentation, operational procedures, and automation solutions utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and workflow automation where applicable.

Qualifications for the Azure IAM Engineer Include:

• Ability to work in the U.S. and proven experience supporting Azure Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) in a senior IAM, cloud identity, or security-focused role.
• Strong knowledge of Azure services, cloud architecture, identity federation, SSO, MFA, RBAC, and/or ABAC.
• Experience implementing and maintaining security and compliance controls within regulated environments; IL5 experience is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with Okta, SailPoint, identity governance, provisioning workflows, and enterprise IAM integrations is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to support both technical and business teams.
• Experience with automation, scripting, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep, etc.), and operational process improvement is highly desirable.

Compensation for the Azure IAM Engineer Includes:

• $120,000-$145,000 annually
