Piper Companies is seeking a Senior IT Infrastructure Project Manager to lead complex infrastructure and technology initiatives for a large enterprise organization in Fairfax, VA. The Senior IT Infrastructure Project Manager will oversee end-to-end project delivery across data center infrastructure, IT operations, systems migrations, networking, and security initiatives. This individual will partner with technical engineering teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and executive leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational objectives. This position is hybrid in Fairfax, VA, requiring 3–4 days onsite per week!
Responsibilities of the Senior IT Infrastructure Project Manager:
- Lead end-to-end project management and delivery of enterprise IT infrastructure initiatives, including data center operations, systems migrations, networking, and security projects
- Manage the full project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, risk management, and project closure
- Oversee infrastructure projects involving data center technologies, wireless access points (WAPs), fiber connectivity, network circuits, and enterprise systems
- Coordinate with infrastructure engineers, IT operations, network teams, security personnel, and business stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables
- Manage external technology vendors, data center service providers, and implementation partners to ensure project milestones and commitments are met
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, status reports, risk registers, requirements documentation, and project delivery artifacts
- Facilitate regular project status meetings, stakeholder discussions, and cross-functional coordination sessions
- Provide executive-level project updates covering progress, milestones, dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies
- Identify project risks, technical dependencies, resource constraints, and delivery challenges while proactively driving resolution
- Support post-implementation stabilization and hypercare activities following enterprise systems migrations
- Establish repeatable project management processes, documentation standards, and delivery methodologies
- Utilize ClickUp or similar project management platforms to track tasks, milestones, dependencies, and project progress
- Apply Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid project management methodologies based on project requirements
- Partner with the Project Management Office (PMO) to maintain project governance, reporting standards, and delivery consistency
- Translate complex technical project information into clear, actionable updates for non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership
Qualifications for the Senior IT Infrastructure Project Manager:
- 7+ years of experience managing enterprise IT infrastructure, technology implementation, or systems migration projects
- Strong experience managing projects involving data center infrastructure, IT operations, networking, or enterprise systems
- Demonstrated experience leading projects through the full project delivery lifecycle, from requirements gathering through implementation and post-production support
- Experience coordinating with infrastructure engineers, network teams, security teams, and technical vendors
- Strong understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure concepts including data centers, network connectivity, fiber circuits, wireless networking, and systems migrations
- Experience managing third-party vendors, implementation partners, project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables
- Proven ability to gather requirements, develop project documentation, and establish repeatable delivery processes
- Experience developing project plans, risk registers, status reports, requirements documentation, and executive presentations
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies including Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to present technical project updates to executive leadership
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and risk management capabilities
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities while maintaining a collaborative and customer-focused approach
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience managing data center infrastructure upgrades, migrations, or modernization initiatives
- Experience supporting post-migration hypercare, operational stabilization, and production support transitions
- Experience with ClickUp or similar project and portfolio management tools
- Scrum Master, Agile, or Product Owner training or certification
- Experience working within an established Project Management Office (PMO)
- Experience managing infrastructure projects involving wireless access points, fiber connectivity, network circuits, and enterprise security systems
- Experience presenting project risks, delivery progress, and technical recommendations to senior executives
Compensation for the Senior IT Infrastructure Project Manager includes:
- Salary: $140,000 - $160,000
