Piper Companies is seeking a Signal Integrity Application Engineer to support the design, development, and optimization of high-speed cable backplane and interconnect solutions for telecom, datacom, networking, storage, server, and AI/ML applications. This individual will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for signal integrity performance throughout the product lifecycle, partnering with customers, engineering teams, and manufacturing stakeholders to deliver innovative high-speed connectivity solutions. This is a full-time opportunity with preference for candidates located in Santa Clara, CA or Austin, TX. Travel will be involved about 20-30% of the time.
Responsibilities for the Signal Integrity Application Engineer include:
· Lead the architectural design and signal integrity strategy for high-speed cable backplane systems.
· Define system-level requirements to ensure signal integrity, channel performance, and scalability objectives are met.
· Develop technical specifications, simulation models, and proof-of-concept correlation studies.
· Serve as the primary signal integrity point of contact between manufacturing partners and OEM customers.
· Develop a strong understanding of customer technical requirements, business objectives, and signal integrity challenges.
· Provide strategic technical support for the development and implementation of signal integrity solutions.
· Troubleshoot and resolve complex signal integrity and interconnect performance challenges.
· Lead system-level debug efforts and collaborate with manufacturing, test, and cross-functional engineering teams.
· Develop strategies to enhance signal integrity performance and maintain competitive differentiation.
· Collaborate across multiple business units to support seamless product integration into customer systems.
Qualifications for the Signal Integrity Application Engineer include:
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required.
· Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
· Minimum of 8 years of experience providing technical leadership for high-speed interconnect and signal integrity solutions.
· Strong background in high-speed signal transmission, channel design, and EMI/EMC principles.
· Deep understanding of interconnect solutions and how signal integrity supports overall system architecture.
· Experience working within connector, cable, interconnect, networking, telecommunications, data center, or OEM design environments.
· Hands-on experience with signal integrity modeling and simulation tools.
· Expertise with tools such as ANSYS HFSS, SIwave, Cadence Sigrity, Keysight ADS, or similar platforms preferred.
· Strong organizational, presentation, and customer-facing communication skills.
· Experience supporting high-speed interconnect, cable backplane, telecom/datacom, data center, or AI infrastructure programs is highly preferred.
Compensation for the Signal Integrity Application Engineer includes:
· Salary range: $155,000 - $200,000
