Piper Companies is seeking a Lead Procurement Analyst, Category Management to join a leading biotechnology organization for a hybrid permanent position based in RTP, NC. The Lead Procurement Analyst, Category Management will support clinical research and development initiatives by partnering with internal stakeholders, managing strategic supplier relationships, and leading sourcing activities across clinical services categories.


Responsibilities of the Lead Procurement Analyst, Category Management include:

· Lead competitive sourcing activities including RFIs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, bid defenses, and contract negotiations for clinical service providers.

· Partner with Clinical Operations, Medical Affairs, Finance, and other business teams to identify procurement needs and ensure timely execution of sourcing strategies.

· Manage strategic vendor relationships, monitor supplier performance, and drive service quality improvements across key clinical partnerships.

· Negotiate and maintain Master Service Agreements (MSAs), statements of work, pricing structures, and commercial terms with CROs and other service providers.

· Analyze spend data, supplier risks, and category trends to support business objectives, compliance requirements, and operational efficiencies.


Qualifications for the Lead Procurement Analyst, Category Management include:

· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, or a related field.

· 6+ years of procurement, sourcing, vendor management, or category management experience within biotech, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or CRO environments.

· Demonstrated experience leading RFI and RFP processes, supplier selection initiatives, and contract negotiations.

· Direct experience managing CRO partnerships, clinical service vendors, and stakeholder relationships within Clinical Operations or research functions.

· Strong knowledge of source-to-pay processes, procurement systems, vendor governance, and regulated industry requirements.


Compensation for the Lead Procurement Analyst, Category Management:

Salary Range: $105,000-$140,000/year (USD) + annual bonus up to 20%
