Senior Security Architect

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Security Architect to support a company focused on cloud infrastructure security, automation, and secure AWS platform engineering. This position is hybrid (3 days onsite per week) in Reston, VA. The Senior Security Architect will define, implement, and enforce cloud security standards across AWS environments through Terraform and policy-as-code frameworks. Join a team responsible for building the security guardrails that protect enterprise-scale cloud platforms and ensure secure AWS deployments from design through production.

Responsibilities for the Senior Security Architect include:

• Define and document secure configuration standards and security models for AWS services
• Review new AWS services and develop security requirements for implementation teams
• Evaluate and approve policy-as-code rules prior to deployment and publication
• Review Terraform code, reusable modules, and infrastructure deployments for security best practices
• Partner with engineering, platform, and security teams to implement scalable cloud security controls

Required Qualifications for the Senior Security Architect include:

• 7+ years of experience in cloud security, cloud architecture, or platform engineering within enterprise environments
• Deep hands-on experience with Terraform, including module development, infrastructure deployments, and infrastructure-as-code best practices
• Experience with policy-as-code frameworks such as Sentinel, Open Policy Agent (OPA/Rego), or Checkov
• Strong AWS expertise, including IAM, KMS, VPC networking, logging, and cloud security architecture
• Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in Computer Science or a related technical field

Compensation for the Senior Security Architect include:

Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000 depending on experience
