Senior Research Associate, Protein Expression & Purification

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Research Associate, Protein Expression & Purification to join an innovative biotechnology organization supporting advanced immunology research for a 6-12 month onsite contract position based out of Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Senior Research Associate, Protein Expression & Purification will play a key role in generating and purifying recombinant proteins for research programs, while working closely with laboratory teams to ensure high-quality scientific outputs and timely project support. This is a contract opportunity with an anticipated duration of 6-12 months.

Responsibilities of the Senior Research Associate, Protein Expression & Purification include:

· Conduct recombinant protein production and purification activities using chromatography-based workflows and related laboratory equipment.

· Isolate, recover, and refine proteins from a variety of expression systems, including challenging protein formats.

· Utilize ÄKTA, FPLC, or comparable purification platforms to support research and development objectives.

· Maintain detailed experimental records and accurately document findings within electronic laboratory systems.

· Partner with scientists and cross-functional research teams to deliver protein materials and support program milestones.

Qualifications for the Senior Research Associate, Protein Expression & Purification include:

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Protein Sciences, or a related scientific field.

· 2-5 years of hands-on experience in protein expression, purification, or related laboratory research environments.

· Demonstrated expertise working with chromatography systems such as ÄKTA or FPLC.

· Experience recovering and purifying proteins from inclusion bodies and performing basic protein analysis.

· Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to independently execute established laboratory procedures.

Compensation for the Senior Research Associate, Protein Expression & Purification:

Salary Range: $55-$65/hr (USD)
