SRE Private Cloud (Linux)

Piper Companies is hiring a SRE Private Cloud (Linux) for a Cloud and Technology company. The SRE Private Cloud (Linux) will architect, build, and support highly available, scalable, and resilient private cloud infrastructure. You will focus on automating operations, improving platform reliability, and enabling seamless service deployment for internal customers. The SRE Private Cloud (Linux) role is a remote position. 

Responsibilities of the SRE Private Cloud (Linux) Include:

• Design, implement, and manage scalable, highly available private cloud infrastructure and orchestration platforms supporting compute and storage services.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize platform performance, reliability, and security.
• Develop and maintain standardized OS images and deployment frameworks for bare metal, virtual machines, and cloud instances.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure platform uptime, cultivate sound engineering principles, and represent our engineering values.
• Build end-to-end documentation, instrumentation, and automation to enable self-healing and resiliency.
• Participate in on-call rotations to support production environments.
• Lead and contribute to large-scale projects, promoting engineering standards and team values such as inclusivity, customer focus, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications of the SRE Private Cloud (Linux) include:

• 7+ years of experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure, with a strong Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer background managing data center and cloud environments.
• Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, Ruby, or Scala, with strong systems design, documentation, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with private cloud and infrastructure technologies including VMware, NetApp, bare metal servers, file and block storage, and public cloud platforms such as AWS; experience building and maintaining tooling to bootstrap infrastructure environments is highly preferred.
• Strong expertise in Linux administration (Ubuntu preferred), including system configuration, performance tuning, automation, and troubleshooting across physical, virtual, and cloud-based environments.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Kubernetes in production environments, workload deployment using Helm and ArgoCD, and infrastructure automation using Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.

Compensation for the SRE Private Cloud (Linux) include:

• $125,000-$150,000
