Sr. SRE- Technical Leader

Piper Companies is hiring a Sr. SRE-Technical Leader for a Cloud and Technology company. The Sr. SRE-Technical Leader will help design, operate, and scale a Kubernetes-based platform supporting highly regulated environments, including FedRAMP High and DoD IL5. The Sr. SRE-Technical Leader role is a remote position. 

Responsibilities of the Sr. SRE-Technical Leader Include:

• Design, build, and operate large-scale Kubernetes platforms supporting FedRAMP High and DoD IL5 environments, ensuring high availability, security, scalability, and operational excellence.
• Lead reliability engineering initiatives by defining SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets, while improving platform performance through automation, observability, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and Kubernetes deployment automation to streamline application delivery.
• Partner with engineering, security, and compliance teams to implement FedRAMP High and IL5 controls, support ATO activities, and maintain audit-ready platforms without impacting developer productivity.
• Drive incident response, root cause analysis, and blameless postmortems while participating in on-call support and reducing operational toil through automation and platform improvements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship, helping shape a scalable, developer-friendly platform that balances reliability, security, compliance, and user experience.

Qualifications of the Sr. SRE-Technical Leader include:

• 10+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering, with demonstrated success leading large-scale platform initiatives.
• Extensive hands-on experience designing, building, and operating Kubernetes platforms at scale, including EKS, AKS, GKE, or upstream Kubernetes in production environments.
• Strong experience supporting FedRAMP High, DoD IL5, or other highly regulated environments, with knowledge of NIST 800-53, RMF, STIGs, and compliance-driven operational practices.
• Expertise in cloud infrastructure, Linux administration, networking fundamentals, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD tooling, GitOps, and deployment automation technologies such as ArgoCD.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar programming languages, along with experience building observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK, or comparable platforms.
• Strong technical leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and build scalable, reliable platforms that enable engineering teams to deploy confidently in high-compliance environments.

Compensation for the Sr. SRE-Technical Leader include:

• $150,000-$180,000
