Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a Payroll Analyst to support internal payroll operations. This position is a full-time role that will be hybrid in Washington, DC. This position is critical to ensuring accurate and timely payroll execution, safeguarding financial integrity, and maintaining compliance with payroll laws and organizational policies. As a Payroll Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in payroll processing, reporting, audits, and continuous process improvement within a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze regular and special off-cycle payrolls to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Support day-to-day payroll operations, including reconciliation, reporting, and audits
- Respond to payroll inquiries via phone and email; escalate issues when necessary
- Investigate data inconsistencies and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain well-organized and complete electronic payroll records
- Review payroll system data, including employee pay, work hours, PTO, and timekeeping information
- Prepare and generate payroll reports as requested
- Assist with payroll law research and industry trend analysis
- Support payroll system updates, including testing and implementation
- Contribute to special payroll-related projects
- Provide guidance and training support to team members as needed
- Review and audit payroll tax reconciliations and peer work for accuracy
- Identify process improvement opportunities and update standard operating procedures
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 5+ years of payroll experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) preferred
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and administrative capabilities
- High level of confidentiality, integrity, and reliability
- Ability to prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Flexibility to support urgent or out-of-scope business needs
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll systems/tools
- Willingness to work flexible hours based on payroll deadlines
Compensation:
- Salary: $85,000 - $90,000 *Depending on experience*
- Health, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401K, Holidays, Sick Leave if required by Law
