Portfolio MBSE Engineering Lead

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Portfolio MBSE Engineering Lead to support a company focused on advancing model-based systems engineering (MBSE) practices across a multi-program DoD portfolio. This position is on-site in Westminster, CO. The Portfolio MBSE Engineering Lead will lead enterprise model architecture, integration, and automation while driving adoption through training and enablement. This role is instrumental in transforming engineering teams to fully leverage models as the authoritative “single source of truth” and deliver consistent, high-quality outputs across programs.

Responsibilities for the Portfolio MBSE Engineering Lead include:

• Lead the design and implementation of reference architectures to standardize models across a multi-program portfolio
• Develop and maintain complex system models using Cameo (2022) and SysML, ensuring usability and scalability
• Establish and optimize “Model-to-Document” pipelines to automate generation of customer deliverables
• Serve as a primary trainer and mentor—teaching engineers how to effectively use, interact with, and contribute to models to increase adoption and usability
• Integrate MBSE workflows with requirements management tools to ensure full traceability and a unified “single source of truth”

Required Qualifications for the Portfolio MBSE Engineering Lead include:

• 10+ years of experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) in a leadership or lead capacity
• Expertise with Cameo Systems Modeler (2022), SysML, and enterprise model architecture development
• Strong experience in tool integration, automation, and training/mentoring engineering teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering, or related technical field (Master’s preferred)
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain

Compensation for the Portfolio MBSE Engineering Lead include:

Salary Range: $230,000 - $250,000 depending on experience
