Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Director of Enterprise Systems to lead enterprise-wide ERP strategy, optimization, and governance for a company operating in the manufacturing and life sciences industry, located in Rockville, MD. The Director of Enterprise Systems role is ideal for a senior leader with deep JD Edwards expertise, strong people leadership skills, and a proven ability to align enterprise platforms with business growth, operational scalability, and long-term technology sustainability.


Responsibilities of the Director of Enterprise Systems:

• Lead the enterprise systems roadmap by partnering with business owners to identify capability gaps, prioritize initiatives, and drive continuous improvement through platform optimization and adoption of industry best practices.

• Provide project leadership across all phases of enterprise systems solution development and implementation.

• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing enterprise systems team through strategic recruiting, structured onboarding, mentoring, and deliberate growth planning.

• Manage staff performance by setting expectations, planning and monitoring work, coaching and counseling employees, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

• Serve as a trusted strategic partner to commercial, manufacturing, and operations leadership, translating business strategy into enterprise systems investments.

• Collaborate with software engineering teams to support customer and business integrations across ERP, MES, CRM, and related platforms.

• Oversee end-user support for JD Edwards and other enterprise systems environments, ensuring timely resolution of complex issues.

• Ensure enterprise system users are thoroughly trained on best practices and that system documentation and institutional knowledge are properly maintained.

• Establish and maintain a governance framework for system configuration, change management, documentation, validation standards, auditability, and compliance readiness.

• Evaluate ERP and enterprise platform capabilities against evolving business needs, recommending configuration, customization, or platform evolution while minimizing technical debt.

• Monitor the enterprise systems landscape, including cloud migration paths, AI-enabled ERP capabilities, and integration platform advancements, and provide forward-looking strategic recommendations.

• Develop specifications and configurations for ERP enhancements, ensuring design documentation, testing, and validation standards are complete and accurate.

• Maintain a safe and compliant working environment by enforcing organizational standards and adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.


Qualifications of the Director of Enterprise Systems:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline.

• 7+ years of progressive experience with JD Edwards.

• 5+ years of progressive experience with an additional major ERP platform.

• 5+ years of people management or supervisory experience.

• Experience leading large, enterprise-level ERP initiatives and managing teams of functional and technical resources.

• Strong experience supporting ERP modules for manufacturing, distribution, inventory, and finance.

• Experience with international and multicurrency ERP environments preferred.

• Demonstrated experience defining and testing reports, interfaces, data conversions, enhancements, and business processes.

• Experience with cloud-hosted or SaaS ERP deployments, or leadership of ERP evaluation or migration initiatives in manufacturing or life sciences environments, preferred.

• Familiarity with PLM integration patterns (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill, Aras) and their interaction with ERP and MES data flows preferred.

• Experience with enterprise integration platforms or middleware such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or Informatica preferred.

• PMP or other project management certification preferred.

• Strong business relationship management, change leadership, analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

 

Compensation for the Director of Enterprise Systems includes:

• Salary range: $200,000 - $230,000 annual salary

• Full benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, paid holidays, and sick leave as required by law
