Systems Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer to support a company focused on secure government IT infrastructure and virtual desktop (VDI) environments supporting mission-critical defense operations. This position is on-site in Newington, VA. The Systems Engineer will design, implement, and maintain scalable VDI architectures to support secure, high-performance user environments. Responsibilities for the Systems Engineer include:

• Design and define system architecture for VDI environments hosted on vSphere
• Collaborate across technical teams to troubleshoot challenges and drive mission outcomes
• Manage and optimize thin client environments using endpoint management tools (e.g., Wyse Management)
• Implement and maintain VDI monitoring, performance tuning, and automation solutions
• Ensure compliance with DISA STIGs and apply best practices for secure system configurations

Required Qualifications for the Systems Engineer include:

• 8+ years of experience with VDI technologies, specifically Omnissa Horizon hosted on vSphere
• Experience with thin client management tools, VDI monitoring solutions (Liquidware, Stratusphere), and profile management
• Strong scripting skills (PowerShell) and experience with image-as-code tools (HashiCorp, Packer)
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Active TS/SCI clearance and Security+ certification required

Compensation for the Systems Engineer include:

• Salary Range: $175,000 dependent on experience
