Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an experienced FPGA Engineer to support the full program lifecycle development of complex, high‑precision, and high‑reliability electronic systems. This role focuses on architecting, developing, verifying, and releasing FPGA solutions for space and mission‑critical applications. The ideal candidate brings deep experience with AMD (Xilinx) FPGA platforms, cross‑disciplinary collaboration, and a strong understanding of secure, high‑reliability system design.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid remote (3 days on 2 days remote) role in Westminster, CO supporting space and mission‑critical electronics programs throughout the engineering lifecycle.
Clearance Requirements:
- This position does not need a clearance but can hold up to a TS/SCI.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop FPGA architectures for space systems and high‑reliability electronic applications.
- Lead FPGA SoC designs utilizing AMD (Xilinx) tools, software, and IP.
- Develop and integrate digital IP across complex FPGA designs.
- Support development and release of Versal FPGA solutions for algorithm processing.
- Support development and release of Zynq FPGA solutions for both control electronics and algorithm execution.
- Collaborate with flight software teams to develop and support embedded Linux board support packages (BSPs).
- Test and debug engineering and flight hardware in laboratory environments.
- Develop and maintain FPGA Verification Version Description Documents (FVDD).
- Incorporate FPGA designs into the overall electrical subsystem throughout the program lifecycle.
- Participate in risk and opportunity assessments, supporting mitigation strategies and technical tradeoffs.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to peers, leadership, and customers.
- Coordinate tasks across teams and proactively resolve technical blockers.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders in a cross‑disciplinary engineering environment.
Qualifications:
- High School Degree 7+ years of experience in FPGA engineering.
- Experience designing and developing FPGA solutions for complex or high‑reliability systems.
- Strong understanding of digital, analog, power, and FPGA board‑level design concepts and packaging.
- Experience with FPGA verification, debugging, and hardware bring‑up.
- Familiarity with root‑of‑trust and chain‑of‑trust concepts and their implementation in firmware and software.
- Ability to contribute across architecture, development, test, and sustainment phases.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document and present technical solutions.
- Proven ability to take ownership, collaborate effectively, and deliver results in team environments.
Compensation:
- Pay Band: $150,000 - $220,000 (based on years of applicable experience)
