Overview
Zachary Piper is seeking a Data Engineer with 6+ years of experience to design, build, and maintain data pipelines and architectures supporting analytics, AI/ML, and automation initiatives for a DHS client, primarily supporting the Office of the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data architectures
- Implement and manage ETL processes across multiple data sources
- Develop and maintain data models for analytics, AI/ML, and predictive use cases
- Configure and develop solutions using AWS services and workflow tools (e.g., Airflow)
- Automate data processes using Python, SQL, and related tools
- Ensure data security, quality, and compliance with federal requirements
- Work with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift)
- Develop dashboards and reports using Tableau and Power BI
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines
- Support cloud modernization efforts for data platforms
- Communicate technical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Contribute to client-facing briefings and written deliverables
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or related disciplines
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Experience designing and deploying production-grade data pipelines
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (S3, EC2, RDS, Lambda)
- Strong data modeling and relational database experience
- Experience building dashboards and visualizations for executive audiences
- Familiarity with software development best practices (Git, testing, iterative development)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments
- Knowledge of federal data governance and compliance standards preferred
Nice to Have
- Experience with ETL tools (Airflow, Informatica, Talend)
- Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka)
- Familiarity with automation platforms (UiPath, Power Automate)
- Experience supporting DHS or federal environments requiring suitability clearance
- Experience developing prototypes or proof-of-concept solutions
Compensation
· Compensation Range: $135,000 - $155,000
· Benefits: PTO, Paid Holidays, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Sick Leave (As required by law)
