Sr. Kubernetes Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Kubernetes Engineer to support a mission-driven organization focused on secure, scalable container platforms supporting critical government systems and national security initiatives. This position is on-site in Washington, DC. The Senior Kubernetes Engineer will lead the design, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise Kubernetes platforms supporting high-availability, production workloads. This role directly supports mission-critical systems that enable secure and reliable operations for government stakeholders.

Responsibilities for the Senior Kubernetes Engineer include:

• Designing, deploying, and administering highly available Kubernetes clusters in production environments
• Managing cluster lifecycle operations including upgrades, patching, scaling, and performance optimization
• Implementing infrastructure automation, CI/CD integrations, and infrastructure-as-code workflows
• Enforcing Kubernetes security best practices including RBAC, network policies, and secrets management
• Supporting development teams by troubleshooting platform and application issues across distributed systems

Required Qualifications for the Senior Kubernetes Engineer include:

• 6+ years of experience with Kubernetes in production environments
• Strong experience with containerization technologies (Docker), Kubernetes architecture, networking, and storage
• Proficiency in Linux system administration, Python scripting, and automation
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• Active Top Secret security clearance (TS required; TS/SCI preferred)

Compensation for the Senior Kubernetes Engineer include:

• Salary Range: $160,000 – $215,000 depending on experience
