Sr. SQL DBA - Top Secret Cleared

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior SQL Server DBA to support a mission-focused organization operating within the federal defense and national security space. This position is on-site in Washington, DC. The Senior SQL Server DBA will lead the performance, availability, and security of enterprise SQL Server environments supporting critical systems and data. This role directly supports high-impact missions by ensuring database systems remain secure, resilient, and optimized in classified environments.

Responsibilities for the Senior SQL Server DBA include:

• Administer, install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments across Dev, UAT, and Production systems in both on-prem and cloud-hosted infrastructures
• Design, implement, and support High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions
• Perform advanced performance tuning, T-SQL optimization, index management, and troubleshooting of complex database issues
• Enforce database security controls, including STIG compliance, encryption (TDE/SSL), vulnerability remediation, and audit readiness
• Collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams on schema design, upgrades, patching, migrations, documentation, and operational best practices

Required Qualifications for the Senior SQL Server DBA include:

• 9+ years of database administration experience, including 5+ years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience
• Strong expertise with Microsoft SQL Server, Windows Server, Always On AG, WSFC, backup/recovery strategies, and performance tuning
• Advanced T-SQL skills, database security implementation, HA/DR architectures, and troubleshooting in enterprise environments
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Active Top Secret security clearance

Compensation for the Senior SQL Server DBA include:

• Salary Range: $150,000 – $170,000 depending on experience
