Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Service Desk Technician to support a company operating a secure Azure enterprise environment for a federal customer. This position is onsite in Lorton, VA, transitioning to Reston, VA at the end of the year. This is a contract opportunity supporting a mission-critical IT operations program within a classified environment.


The Service Desk Technician will provide advanced end-user support, troubleshoot Azure and Windows-related issues, and help maintain smooth operations within a secure enterprise environment.


Responsibilities for the Service Desk Technician include:

• Respond to technical inquiries via phone, email, and chat to deliver high-quality customer support

• Document issues, troubleshooting actions, and resolutions in the ticketing system in alignment with SLAs/SLOs

• Troubleshoot and resolve Tier 1.5 issues involving Azure services, Windows environments, and collaboration tools (Teams, Outlook)

• Escalate complex incidents to higher-tier support when necessary

• Contribute to internal knowledge base articles, known issues, and best practices

• Collaborate with multiple IT teams to support seamless service delivery

• Assist users operating within a secure Azure enterprise environment and provide guidance to reduce recurring issues

Required Qualifications for the Service Desk Technician include:

  •  Minimum 3 years of IT support or customer service experience with a strong customer focus
  •  Hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Windows environments
  • Familiarity with Azure services and a strong willingness to grow cloud expertise
  •  Experience writing or troubleshooting scripts in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages
  •  Basic understanding of IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies
  •  Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail
  •  Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, high‑visibility environments
  •  Ability to create and apply PowerShell scripts to automate tasks
  •  Active TS/SCI clearance -  DoD 8140 compliant certification (e.g., Security+, CEH, CySA+)

Compensation for the Service Desk Technician includes:
