Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a Systems Engineer in Herndon, VA to lead the Systems Engineering team in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment, working closely with customers, contractors, and cross‑functional stakeholders. This position is onsite and we are looking for an applicant with a TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities:

• Manage, develop, and coordinate all program CDRLs through the Engineering Review Board (ERB) cycle, ensuring accurate and timely delivery to the customer.
• Plan, organize, and oversee the execution and completion of Systems Engineering tasks within assigned areas of responsibility.
• Partner with the Chief Engineer (CE) and Chief Architect (CA) to establish system architecture, develop CONOPS, and decompose system‑level designs into actionable requirements.
• Lead and drive system integration and test activities using Agile principles, ensuring acceptance criteria are met across all system levels.
• Conduct system analyses and develop interface definitions, including performing studies, trade analyses, and capability assessments in collaboration with CE/CA.
• Manage and execute Enterprise‑level and Program‑level integration and test events, ensuring stakeholders receive timely support and clear communication.
• Plan, develop, and maintain test cases while tracking progress using Agile test‑management tools.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Active TS/SCI
• Proven ability to lead, organize, and direct individual contributors within an engineering team.
• Hands‑on experience with Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Zephyr.
• Demonstrated experience creating, managing, and finalizing Systems Engineering artifacts, including:
  • Requirements Specifications
  • Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
  • System Designs or System Analyses
  • CONOPS development
  • Program CDRL coordination and completion
• Experience planning, developing, and executing tests in an Agile environment, including:
  • Preparing test plans and procedures
  • Leading test execution activities
  • Defining tests and validating acceptance criteria for system features
  • Ensuring requirements consistency and traceability to customer objectives
  • Producing test plans, test procedures, and test results documentation

Compensation:

• Salary Range: $125,000 - $190,000
