Senior Cloud Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to support our client in El Segundo, CA. The Senior Cloud Engineer will lead the design, deployment, and operation of secure cloud environments delivering mission‑critical cyber capabilities to Space Force operators.

Responsibilities of the Senior Cloud Engineer include:

·      Design and implement cloud architectures across AWS, Azure, Platform One, and similar environments

·      Develop, deploy, and operate cloud‑native applications and infrastructure

·      Engineer connectivity solutions between cloud platforms and on‑premise networks

·      Produce technical design documentation including diagrams and specifications

·      Support application teams in building cloud‑based representations of lab systems

·      Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to establish cloud best practices, templates, and automation patterns

·      Develop new mission applications and tools, integrating them into existing cloud environments

·      Resolve software architecture challenges and contribute to enterprise‑level design decisions

·      Manage virtual and physical servers across multiple operating systems

·      Ensure security compliance through best practices for privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory standards

·      Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware/software issues across systems

Qualifications for the Senior Cloud Engineer include:

·      Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 18+ years of experience

·      10+ years designing and implementing mesh cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, Platform One, C2S, etc.)

·      Active T5 investigation, SCI eligibility, and willingness to complete a polygraph

·      Cloud SysOps Administrator certification

·      Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Helm, etc.)

·      Proficiency in Python, PHP, or similar automation/scripting languages

·      Experience supporting DevSecOps pipelines and secure software development environments

Desired Skills and Certifications:

·      Knowledge of DoD acquisition lifecycle

·      SAFe Agilist certification

·      Ability to obtain CSWF and IAT Level II (Security+)

·      Experience with hybrid cloud/on‑premise architectures, containers/Kubernetes, and Zero Trust Concepts

·      Knowledge of MLS/Cross‑Domain Solutions, RMF, and Continuous ATO

Compensation for the Senior Cloud Engineer includes:

·      Salary Range: $200,000-$220,000 depending on experience
