Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Autonomous Vehicle Software Engineer to support a company focused on advancing intelligent transportation systems, traffic operations, and next‑generation mobility technology. This position is on-site in Mclean, VA. The Autonomous Vehicle Software Engineer will analyze traffic performance, design operational improvements, and support simulation-based testing for transportation and autonomous systems. Responsibilities for the Autonomous Vehicle Software Engineer include:
- Conduct traffic analysis across roadway links, intersections, and full transportation networks
- Design traffic safety and operational solutions such as smart signals, sensors, ATMS tools, and infrastructure improvements
- Build and run traffic models and simulations, including scripting, API integrations, and hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing
- Perform testing and validation of traffic models, simulation performance, and ITS system functionality
Required Qualifications for the Autonomous Vehicle Engineer include:
- 0–4 years of experience for Junior / 4–8 years of experience for Mid-Level roles
- Strong Python skills in a Linux environment (C++ preferred)
- Experience with unit and integration testing within CI workflows
- Proficiency with API integrations and data format adapters (e.g., JSON ↔ XML)
- Experience using Git for version control
- BS/BA in a relevant field or equivalent work experience (see experience tiers)
Compensation for the Autonomous Vehicle Software Engineer includes:
- Salary Range: $80,000-130,000 **Depending on experience**
