CIM Tech Specialist

Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a CIM Tech Specialist to support a client’s data center program based onsite at the customer location. This is a full-time, onsite role. This position is critical in ensuring the successful deployment, integration, commissioning, and performance of advanced Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS), SCADA, and Industrial Control Systems (ICS). As a CIM Tech Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high‑reliability systems within mission‑critical data center environments.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of complex BMS, EPMS, SCADA, and ICS systems with a focus on advanced configurable integrations.
• Perform basic TCP/IP configuration and troubleshoot communication link failures.
• Configure communication devices, Modbus gateway devices, and use tools such as Modscan for diagnostics and monitoring.
• Interpret vendor manuals and configure power meters, PDUs, ATS, generators, STS, UPS, battery systems, and similar infrastructure devices.
• Navigate EPMS/SCADA applications for monitoring, trending, and data retrieval.
• Safely open, close, rack‑in, and rack‑out breakers for point monitoring.
• Load, update, and configure PLC applications, including communication parameters.
• Prepare and review simple electrical sketches, commissioning (CX) plans, and datasheets.
• Perform routine electrical and mechanical calculations.
• Assist in reviewing supplier documentation for compliance with specifications.
• Support commissioning, inspection, and testing of electrical components and systems.
• Apply foundational electrical and mechanical theory to hands‑on fieldwork.
• Demonstrate basic familiarity with power systems including switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, power panels, protection relays, UPS systems, power monitoring, and test equipment.
• Perform point‑to‑point and functional startup scripts on EPMS/BMS systems.
• Write point‑to‑point and functional startup scripts for EPMS/BMS/ICS systems.
• Manage startup progress, issue lists, and commissioning tools such as CX Alloy.
• Demonstrate basic programming and troubleshooting skills for PLC and SCADA platforms.
• Produce clear technical writing and documentation.
• Apply knowledge of advanced mathematics to engineering and configuration tasks.
• Maintain awareness of industry codes and standards.
• Communicate effectively with customers, other contractors, and internal teams.
• Travel locally, regionally, and nationally to customer sites as required.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience installing, troubleshooting, or testing EPMS, BMS, industrial instrumentation, and/or SCADA systems (with High School Diploma).
• 6+ years of experience with an Associate’s degree.
• Must maintain reliable attendance on customer sites during required work hours.

Compensation:

• $70,000 - $105,000 *depending on experience*
• Health, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401K, Holidays, Sick Leave if required by Law
