Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Network Architect to support a mission-critical DoD program based in Honolulu, HI. This position is a full-time, completely on-site role. The Network Architect plays a pivotal role in designing, securing, and optimizing classified and unclassified enterprise networks across HQ PACAF. This role is essential to ensuring resilient network architectures, compliance with DoD standards, and readiness for operational, exercise, and real-world mission demands.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead network architect for all classified and unclassified HQ DoD networks and guide future-state architecture design.
- Advise DoD leadership on technology selection, network optimization strategies, and IT capability enhancement.
- Evaluate enterprise architecture against mission objectives, capacity demands, cybersecurity posture, and emerging requirements.
- Develop and present Cost-Benefit Analyses, engineering plans, and risk assessments for major system upgrades or transition activities.
- Provide design and integration strategies for data center operations, disaster recovery, and wireless network expansion initiatives.
- Lead stakeholder engagement and enterprise-level engineering planning aligned to operational readiness and future force projection.
- Assess and validate network topology, protocol architecture, and integration plans to ensure scalability, resilience, and DoD-grade security.
- Provide technical recommendations to fulfill immediate and long-term operational IT needs.
- Oversee design compliance, risk assessments, and technical design reviews involving cross-domain solutions and coalition interoperability.
- Survey and assess facility infrastructure conditions to identify required upgrades affecting network equipment installation or expansion.
- Manage the risk of operating a complex network, including DoD and Army compliance requirements for DODIN-AP.
- Oversee A&A (Assessment & Authorization) management for 11 separate networks.
- Build and support a Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) capability to support exercises and real-world mission events
Requirements:
- Active Top Secret Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, systems architecture, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 10+ years of senior-level network architecture or engineering experience supporting DoD or joint commands.
- At start date, must possess one or more of the following certifications in ACTIVE status:
- CCNP (Routing and Switching) or CCDP (Design)
- CAP – Certified Authorization Professional
- SecurityX - Formerly known as CASP+CE
- CISM – Certified Information Security Manager
- CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional (or Associate)
- GSLC – GIAC Security Leadership certification
- Proven track record of designing and implanting secure, scalable DoD enterprise networks (classified and unclassified).
- Expertise with network architecture, firewall policy, routing protocols, QoS, Cloud-enablement strategies, and cross-domain solutions.
- Deep knowledge of DoD architecture frameworks, RMF, and PACAF-specific mission demands
Compensation:
- $130,000 - $160,000 *depending on experience*
