Systems Engineer - TS/SCI Cleared

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer to support our client in San Diego, CA. The Systems Engineer will lead systems design, development, and lifecycle engineering efforts in support of mission‑critical, classified programs. This role works directly with end customers to plan deployments, create engineering artifacts, and guide system sustainment activities.

Responsibilities of the Systems Engineer include:

·      Lead the design, development, and documentation of complex systems and engineering artifacts

·      Work directly with customer stakeholders to support implementation planning and technical execution

·      Apply systems engineering principles across fielded system lifecycles to ensure program success

·      Prepare detailed technical reports, briefings, and presentations for stakeholders

·      Contribute engineering content and tutorials to product documentation

·      Provide software sustainment leadership using configuration management controls and processes

·      Stay current on emerging technologies including distributed databases, SDN, container orchestration, DevSecOps, and automated testing

Qualifications for the Systems Engineer include:

·      Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Network Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or related field

·      5+ years of experience applying engineering principles in operational environments

·      Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, Bash, PowerShell, and Python

·      Experience troubleshooting and maintaining complex distributed systems (e.g., Hadoop, HBase/Accumulo, Spark, Kafka)

·      Strong understanding of security concepts including SSH, PKI, certificates, TLS, and DoD/IC security policies

·      Ability to work onsite in a classified facility at least 75% of the time

·      Active TS/SCI and ability to pass a CI Polygraph within 6 months

·      Ability to travel up to 25%

Compensation for the Systems Engineer includes:

·      Salary Range: $150,000 – $190,000
