Software Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer to join high-impact engineering team building next-generation intelligent systems reshaping the future of mobility and automation. This role is located in McLean, VA through 100% full onsite presence. The Software Engineer will lead design, development, and testing of modern C++ software prototypes.

Responsibilities of the Software Engineer include:

• Lead end-to-end development of C++ research prototypes & proof-of-concepts, including testing & demonstrations across diverse intelligent systems
• Improve & maintain software quality by managing technical debt, shaping open-source contributions, & guiding best-practice adoption across teams
• Analyze, refactor, & modernize existing software architectures to enhance modularity, scalability, & long-term maintainability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scope work, solve technical challenges, estimate effort, & communicate effectively with customers & external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle

Qualifications of the Software Engineer include:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• 4+ years of experience in C++ software development (2+ with Master's)
• Experience using CMake for building C++ packages
• Proficient using Git, Docker, Java/Phyton, JIRA/Confluence
• Familiar with software quality practices
• Strong understanding of math fundamentals (geometry, linear algebra, probability, graph theory, set theory, statistics)
• Active Public Trust clearance

Compensation for the Software Engineer includes:

• Salary: $95,000-$105,000 **depending on experience**
