Sr. Project Manager (Hybrid Remote)

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support energy efficiency, renewable energy, and infrastructure projects for a leading energy solutions provider. This hybrid‑remote role is based within commutable distance to Chicago and supports the design, construction, and successful implementation of commercial and industrial energy projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong construction project management experience, a safety‑first mindset, and the ability to manage complex, multi‑site energy initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Champion and enforce a strong Culture of Safety, ensuring compliance with company, industry, and jurisdictional safety standards.
• Lead project implementation of site safety plans, health programs, operational documentation, and training activities.
• Provide day‑to‑day management of construction projects involving mechanical, central plant, renewable energy, energy storage, and energy efficiency systems.
• Collaborate with Development, Engineering, and Pre‑Construction teams on scope definition, scheduling, cost estimation, subcontractor selection, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing, optimized schedules, and timely delivery of equipment and services.
• Manage subcontractors and vendors to ensure quality, on‑time delivery, budget adherence, and customer satisfaction.
• Provide regular project status updates to internal teams, customers, and stakeholders throughout design and construction phases.
• Evaluate technologies and equipment to recommend the most effective solutions for each project.
• Prepare and deliver project reports, technical documentation, and project closeout materials.
• Manage project budgets, expenditures, job cost accounting, approvals, and payment tracking.
• Foster strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders at all project phases.
• Perform additional duties as required to support project success.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, project management, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Minimum of 7 years of senior‑level project management experience supporting electrical, mechanical, central plant, engineering, or industrial power construction projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex infrastructure construction, renovations, retrofits, building automation, and energy services projects.
• Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and construction regulations, practices, and codes.
• Proven ability to review mechanical and central plant engineered drawings for constructability, efficiency, and practicality.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Primavera, and Procore.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Preferred:

• Renewable energy construction experience leading multi‑site or highly complex projects.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• Experience coordinating cross‑functional teams and managing multiple concurrent deliverables.

Work Environment:

Hybrid remote role based within commuting distance of Chicago, IL with occasional site visits and on‑call support outside standard business hours as needed.

Compensation:

• Salary Range: $140,000 - $180,000 (based on experience).
• Benefits: Cigna medical, dental, vision, 401k, up to 20 days paid time off, 11 federal holidays, and sick leave as required by law.
