Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an experienced System-of-Systems (SoS) Integration Engineer to support the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC). This senior-level role will embed full-time with the Government’s Space Reconnaissance team, providing technical leadership for the development and integration of next-generation space-based Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and Space Surveillance & Reconnaissance (S&R) capabilities. The position focuses on integrating a GEO-based SDA satellite constellation with ground systems, mission planning, and data distribution architectures.


Location: El Segundo, CA

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary systems engineer for integration of the Reconnaissance at GEO advanced satellite constellation (RG-XX) with command and control, mission planning, space-to-ground communications, and mission data processing systems.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to influence architecture, design, and implementation for RG-XX and associated interfaces.
  • Provide technical oversight of system development and integration efforts across design, development, manufacturing, integration/test, and sustainment planning.
  • Define and evolve Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to govern system interfaces for sensor orchestration, mission execution, and space-ground data fusion.
  • Guide end-to-end system integration from space sensor tasking through collection and distribution of actionable information.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and test planning to ensure integrated capabilities meet operational objectives.
  • Lead risk management activities, identifying and mitigating technical and programmatic risks.
  • Coordinate across USSF, SSC, SpOC, NSDC, USSPACECOM, commercial partners, and allied nations to establish cross-domain sensor tasking and data-sharing architectures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 14 years of experience in systems engineering and integration for space systems.
  • Expertise in SDA systems, sensor networks, data processing pipelines, space object tracking, and space traffic management.
  • Experience with system-of-systems architecture and complex interface integration.
  • Knowledge of sensor integration, calibration, and data processing.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based ground architectures and modern C2 concepts (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS).
  • Active security clearance with SCI eligibility and willingness to consent to polygraph examination.

Preferred:

  • Experience with SDA technologies, EO payloads, and data analytics techniques.
  • Familiarity with RMF cybersecurity frameworks and incident response.
  • Prior work supporting USSF/SSC space control or SDA programs.
  • Professional certifications such as INCOSE CSEP, PE, Agile PM/PO, or ITEA CTEP.

Compensation:

  • Salary Range: $150,000 - $210,000 (based on experience).
  • Benefits: Cigna medical, dental, vision, 401k, 20 days paid time off, 11 federal holidays, and sick leave as required by law.
