Senior Business Intelligence Developer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to join our team in Reston, VA. The Senior BI Developer will design and maintain semantic models, optimize BI/AI performance, and collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to deliver scalable, governed insights across the organization.

Responsibilities of the Senior Business Intelligence Developer include:

·      Develop and maintain AI-enhanced analytics pipelines

·      Leverage generative AI and automation tools to improve BI applications

·      Design and maintain semantic models, governed explores, and reusable data marts

·      Implement and manage a shared metrics layer with version control and testing

·      Write advanced SQL for BI/AI models and optimize queries for performance

·      Define data contracts and enforce quality standards with Data Engineering teams

·      Mentor BI Analysts on modeling, query optimization, and dashboard performance

Qualifications for the Senior Business Intelligence Developer include:

·      Proven experience driving AI adoption in analytics workflows

·      Strong proficiency in SQL and BI semantic modeling (e.g., LookML or equivalent)

·      Familiarity with modern ELT stacks and cloud warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery)

·      Scripting experience in Python or R for automation and testing

·      Understanding of BI governance, performance tuning, and data contracts

·      Awareness of open table formats (Iceberg/Delta) and query engines

·      Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government

Compensation for the Senior Business Intelligence Developer includes:

·      Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 depending on experience
