Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Radio Systems Technician to support a large-scale public safety communications program located in Timonium, MD through 100% on-site presence. The Radio Systems Technician will install, maintain, and troubleshoot Motorola RF equipment for P25 trunking systems, perform break-fix repairs on repeaters, base stations, and duplexers, and ensure reliable communication across statewide public safety networks.
Responsibilities of the Radio Systems Technician include:
- Install, program, and maintain Motorola P25 communication equipment, including repeaters, base stations, and duplexers
- Troubleshoot RF circuitry and resolve issues impacting system performance for public safety sites
- Perform firmware updates and make modifications to electronic circuitry as needed
- Design and upgrade customer systems to meet evolving operational requirements
- Conduct site surveys and provide Acceptance Test Plans with documented results
- Support customers and sales teams by preparing quotes, bids, and installation schedules
- Travel to statewide sites (including Western Maryland) to perform maintenance and troubleshooting
Qualifications of the Radio Systems Technician include:
- High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or Motorola certifications preferred
- 4+ years of experience with installation and service of Motorola Land Mobile Radios, P25 trunking systems, and RF troubleshooting
- Hands-on experience with P25 systems and area-wide networks (state or regional)
- Strong RF troubleshooting skills (analog preferred over digital; not focused on fiber/backhaul)
- Ability to diagnose and repair backend radio applications beyond basic DAS backhaul
- Familiarity with firmware deployment and electronic circuitry modifications
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in the field
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be able to obtain and maintain required background checks for public safety systems
Compensation for the Mobile Application Developer include:
- Salary Range: $60,000 - 87,000 **depending on experience**
