Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking Test Engineers at multiple levels to support advanced avionics integration and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing for mission-critical aerospace systems. This role involves automated verification, system-level testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure high reliability and performance. This is a fully onsite position in Cambridge, MA. Candidates must hold an active secret clearance.
Responsibilities include:
- Configure and maintain test environments (hardware, software, network) to replicate production systems.
- Design, develop, and execute test plans, cases, and scenarios for avionics systems.
- Perform verification and validation of software and hardware components.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts and HIL systems for avionics platforms.
- Collaborate with CI/CD (DevSecOps) teams to integrate testing into deployment pipelines.
- Identify and report defects, issues, and vulnerabilities; provide feedback for design improvements.
- Document and maintain test plans, procedures, and metrics in compliance with security protocols.
- Level 4 & 5: Lead technical efforts, advise on test strategies, and integrate AI tools into HIL development.
- Level 5: Oversee a small technical team, communicate progress to leadership, and drive advanced software capabilities.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in NI TestStand, NI VeriStand, NI LabVIEW (or similar HIL platforms).
- Hands-on experience with NI PXIe systems and hardware integration.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, MATLAB.
- Familiarity with avionics communication protocols (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, CAN).
- Knowledge of automated testing frameworks and version control systems (Git).
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Comfortable working with lab hardware and instrumentation.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with FPGA testing/architecture.
- Familiarity with AI tools for HIL development.
- Research or publications in HIL or AI software (Level 5).
- Signal processing and data acquisition techniques.
Qualifications:
- Level 3 (Experienced): Bachelor’s + 3 years OR Master’s + 1 year.
- Level 4 (Senior): Bachelor’s + 5 years OR Master’s + 3 years OR PhD + 1 year.
- Level 5 (Technical Lead): Bachelor’s + 7 years OR Master’s + 5 years OR PhD + 3 years.
Salary for this position:
$125,000-$190,000 based on experience
