ADABAS Database Specialist - REMOTE

Job Summary:

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced ADABAS Database Specialist to join our team on a fully remote basis. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Software AG’s ADABAS suite in a z/OS mainframe environment and a strong background in database performance, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities of the ADABAS Database Specialist include:

• Plan, install, configure, and implement SAG ADABAS software products including Cluster Services, AOS, SAF security, and related tools.
• Support structured/unstructured data, SQL, Natural, and security features within ADABAS.
• Develop and execute disaster recovery strategies, including offsite restoration procedures.
• Manage table spaces, assist DBAs with parameter settings, and optimize database structures.
• Configure and tune ADABAS Cluster Services and Nucleus 64-bit processing support.
• Implement buffering strategies to reduce CPU consumption and enhance performance.
• Monitor and analyze ADABAS performance, including SMF-based resource reporting.
• Ensure compliance with audits, regulatory standards, and change control processes.
• Provide technical guidance to PMOs, DBAs, and systems design staff.
• Troubleshoot Natural program issues and perform dump analysis.
• Plan and execute migrations or conversions to platforms such as DB2 or Oracle.
• Support z/OS operating system parameters and CICS Transaction Server tuning for CICSPlex environments.
• Automate ADABAS startup/shutdown using Tivoli System Automation or compatible tools.
• Apply SAG software updates and fixes to maintain operational continuity.

Qualifications for the ADABAS Database Specialist include:

• 12+ years of experience with SAG ADABAS database systems.
• 5+ years of recent experience with ADABAS on z/OS.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • ADABAS Cluster Services in IBM z/OS Parallel Sysplex
  • ADABAS Suspend/Resume for Point-in-Time copy
  • SAG tools such as PREDICT, REVIEW DB, Natural Monitor, Natural Security, Optimizer Compiler, Construct, Native SQL, and AOS
• Proven expertise in disaster recovery planning and performance tuning.
• Experience supporting CICS Natural applications in CICSPlex environments.
• Strong knowledge of z/OS and IBM CICS parameter tuning.
• Experience with SAG software migrations and applying updates.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Compensation for the ADABAS Database Specialist includes:

• Salary Range: $105,000–$125,000/year depending on experience
