Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Model Based Designer to join a USAF contract located in Cincinnati, OH through 100% fully onsite presence. The Model Based Designer will develop custom CAD solutions and automate engineering workflows using NX-Open APIs to modernize aircraft engine design for platforms like the F-16, F-15, an B-21.
Responsibilities of the Model Based Designer include:
- Develop custom CAD applications - use NX-Open APIs, UFUNC, and .Net/MFC to build reusable, scalable CAD tools tailored to model-based design workflows
- Integrate NX with Teamcenter - Design and implement solutions that connect NX Manager with Teamcenter, enabling seamless data flow and configuration management
- Automate Engineering Workflows - Script in Python, Perl, or CGI to streamline and automate design and engineering processes
- Support Aircraft Engine Programs - Contribute to model-based design efforts for platforms like the F-16, F-15, and B-21 by translating design intent into NX-Open programs
- Collaborate Across Teams - Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, attend project status calls, and coordinate with cross-functional teams across time zones
- Architect and Maintain NX Roadmaps - Assist in defining and implementing the technical roadmap for NX architecture and deployment strategy
Qualifications of the Model Based Designer include:
- Must be a U.S. citizen and authorized to work in military-classified environments; no visa sponsorship available
- NX-Open API & UFUNC Development Experience - Strong hands-on skills in developing custom CAD applications using NX-Open APIs, UFUNC, and NX Manager
- Proficiency in C, C++, and C# - Solid programming background in these languages, especially within .NET and MFC environments
- Scripting and Automation Skills - Experience with scripting languages like Python, Perl, or CGI to automate engineering workflows
- Familiarity with Siemens NX and Teamcenter - Working knowledge of NX modules (Modeling, Assemblies, Drafting) and basic understanding of Teamcenter integration
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or associate degree and 3+ years or high school diploma and 5+ years of relevant experience are also eligible (military experience accepted as equivalent)
Compensation for the Model Based Designer includes:
- Salary Range: $90,000-$140,000 **depending on experience**
