Mechanical Design Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and troubleshooting of complex mechanical systems and components for a federal Program. This role reports directly to the Engineering Manager and will be fully onsite in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer:

• Assist in designing, building, and troubleshooting:
  • High vacuum systems
  • Helium leak detection equipment
  • Composite and machined parts and assemblies
• Support design and analysis of structural and dynamic systems
• Design manufacturing equipment to support fabrication activities
• Develop specifications for fabrication materials and equipment
• Assist in the creation, review, and approval of engineering packages for fabrication
• Establish procedures for assembly and repair of fabricated components
• Drive process improvement initiatives for internal teams and external suppliers
• Manage multiple priorities and ensure deliverables are met within schedule and budget
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, code of conduct, and safety/security requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, engineering, manufacturing, operations, testing, quality, and purchasing

Qualifications for the Mechanical Engineer:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Aerospace Engineering
• 3–7 years of experience in a professional engineering environment
• 3–7 years of CAD experience
• A Master’s degree may substitute for required experience
• Active Q-level or TS security clearance
• Experience with CREO or SolidWorks
• Experience using FEA tools and analysis
• Centrifuge design, testing, or manufacturing experience
• Experience with QL-1 or QL-2 quality parts/systems

Compensation for the Mechanical Engineer includes:

• Salary Range: $$125,000-$150,000
• Full Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Sick Leave (if required by law), and Holidays
