Cloud Operations Engineer

Job Summary:

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a skilled and driven Cloud Operations Engineer to join our IT Services team on a primarily remote basis. This role involves architecting, implementing, monitoring, and managing secure cloud-based environments within AWS.



Responsibilities of the Cloud Operations Engineer:

• Utilize infrastructure-as-code tools to configure systems and deploy applications
• Design and implement scalable cloud architectures using AWS services
• Automate routine operational and maintenance tasks
• Analyze security scan results and remediate identified vulnerabilities
• Perform system updates, patches, and software deployments
• Monitor system performance and assist in troubleshooting issues
• Carry out additional tasks as needed

Requirements of the Cloud Operations Engineer:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• 5+ years of hands-on experience managing RPM-based Linux systems (e.g., Amazon Linux, RHEL, CentOS)
• 3+ years working with AWS automation tools and services (e.g., VPC, EC2, S3, CloudFormation)
• Proficiency in infrastructure automation using CloudFormation or Terraform
• Strong shell scripting capabilities
• Familiarity with security compliance frameworks (CIS, STIG, NIST 800-53) and experience resolving audit findings
• Experience with version control systems and CI/CD tools
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

Compensation for the Cloud Operations Engineer:

·       Salary Range: $110,000-$120,000/year **depending on experience**
