HYBRID - Director of Business Development

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Director of Business Development to join a Federal Program located on a hybrid schedule in Fairfax, VA. The Director of Business Development will lead federal health growth initiatives with a primary focus on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Responsibilities of the Director of Business Development:

• Develop and execute strategic business development plans targeting FDA and CDC.
• Identify and qualify new business opportunities, including RFPs, RFIs, and other procurement vehicles.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within FDA and CDC.
• Lead capture efforts, including competitive analysis, win strategy development, and teaming.
• Collaborate with internal teams (capture, proposal, technical, and delivery) to shape and win new business.
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
• Maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities and provide accurate forecasting and reporting to leadership.
• Travel regularly to client sites and agency locations for meetings, relationship building, and opportunity development

Qualifications for the Director of Business Development:

• 10+ years of experience in federal business development, with a minimum of 3–5 years focused on FDA and/or CDC.
• Established relationships within FDA and/or CDC prior to this position.
• Proven track record of winning contracts in the federal health space.
• Deep understanding of federal procurement processes and contracting vehicles.
• Strong network of contacts within FDA and/or CDC.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Health, Life Sciences, or a related field.

Compensation for the Director of Business Development:

• Salary Range: $160,000 - $205,000+ *flexible based on experience*
