Full Job Description:
Zachary Piper Solutions is looking for an Senior Data Scientist to join a growing team in support of a government agency. This position will be fully remote.
Responsibilities/Overview:
• Deliver onboarding demos and hands-on walkthroughs for customer data science teams, showcasing platform capabilities and how to efficiently leverage Databricks, JupyterHub, and AWS SageMaker/Bedrock.
• Guide customer teams through their initial onboarding milestones including access setup, cluster provisioning, pipeline usage, model experimentation, and promotion workflows.
• Serve as a technical point-of-contact for customer users during their onboarding phase, helping translate platform services into value for their specific use cases.
• Build secure and reproducible data science pipelines, including data wrangling, feature engineering, and model development using Databricks and AWS-native tools.
• Leverage MLflow for model versioning, experiment tracking, and lifecycle governance.
• Integrate with CI/CD workflows (Bitbucket, Bamboo) and infrastructure services (S3, Lambda, RDS).
• Ensure transparency, traceability, and appropriate security handling in line with best practices and applicable compliance standards.
• Implement Responsible AI Toolboxes and support ethical governance of ML/LLM models.
• Collaborate with cross-functional platform teams (Infra, Trustworthy AI, CSx) to support onboarding and operationalization of AI/ML workloads.
Required Qualifications:
• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
• Bachelors degree and seven (7) years or more of related experience or Masters and five (5) or more years of related experience.
• Significant experience in data science roles within cloud environments (preferably AWS).
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, JupyterHub, MLflow, Bitbucket, and AWS tools (S3, Lambda, SageMaker, Bedrock).
• Strong Python, SQL, R, and Spark proficiency.
• Experience working in regulated or government environments.
Desired:
• AWS or ML-related certifications.
• Familiarity with government compliance and governance frameworks.
• Experience in customer-facing data science or platform enablement roles.
• Security Clearance desired
Compensation and Benefits:
· $130,000 - $155,000+ Dependent on experience
· Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Sick Leave as required by law, and Holidays.
