Data Engineer (TS/SCI CI Poly)

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Data Engineer to support a mission-driven IC program in Huntsville, Alabama. In this role, you will design, deploy, and manage data pipelines and platforms that transform complex, disparate data into actionable insights. You’ll work in a fast-paced, agile environment alongside analysts, developers, and engineers to deliver scalable, cloud-based data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deploy automated data pipelines using Shell, Python, Terraform, and Ansible
• Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Docker and Kubernetes
• Deploy and manage PostgreSQL databases on AWS and other cloud platforms
• Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and integrity checks
• Design and implement scalable data platforms to meet enterprise-level requirements
• Independently research, design, and document new database services
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver mission-critical data solutions

Required Qualifications:

• Active Top Secret clearance
• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience as a database engineer in a large-scale enterprise environment
  • OR 14+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
• Experience with:
  • Shell and Python scripting
  • Terraform and Ansible for automation
  • PostgreSQL deployment and management on AWS
  • Database design, query optimization, and performance tuning
• Ability to work independently and manage complex projects with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

• TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
• Experience with SQL optimization workflows and PostgreSQL monitoring
• Familiarity with Oracle or SQL Server performance tuning
• Experience with logical decoding and replication
• Background in Agile development environments

Compensation:

• Salary: $160,000 - $170,000 (based on experience and education)
