HVAC Controls Technician (The Pentagon)

Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a Controls Technician. This position supports critical building automation and HVAC infrastructure at The Pentagon. This position requires the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance.

Work is fully on site at the Pentagon.

Responsibilities:

As a Controls Technician, you will play a vital role in installing, commissioning, and servicing building automation systems and HVAC controls. Your tasks will include:

·      Performing installations, point-to-point checkouts, troubleshooting, and replacements for HVAC control systems, building automation, and occasionally fire/security systems—primarily using Johnson Controls Metasys and Distech platforms.

·      Assisting with field changes and resolving engineering discrepancies in plans and drawings.

·      Providing system operation training to customers, along with relevant manuals and documentation.

·      Conducting ongoing self-study and completing certifications to maintain technical proficiency across product lines.

·      Using electronic test equipment for diagnostics and problem-solving during system installation.

·      Reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, specifications, software programs, schematics, and equipment manuals with accuracy.

·      Promoting jobsite safety and ensuring compliance with Johnson Controls and customer standards; leading safety awareness among teams and subcontractors.

Qualifications:

·      Minimum of 5 years of experience installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.

·      Strong knowledge of electronic/digital control systems, HVAC automation, facilities management systems, and field servicing techniques.

·      Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances, including criminal history, character, employment, and credit checks.

Desired Skills:

·      Experience programming and troubleshooting HVAC control systems such as Johnson Controls Metasys, Honeywell, Siemens, Delta, Distech, Carrier, ALC, Andover.

·      Proficiency with BAS communication protocols, including BACnet MSTP, BACnet IP, N2, P1, Modbus, and/or LON.

·      Hands-on experience with Johnson Controls Metasys or Tridium Niagara DDC systems.

·      Familiarity with system tools such as SMP, SCT, and CCT.

Compensation:

·      Annual salary: $90,000 to $110,000, depending on experience
