Principal Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is currently looking for a Principal Engineer – RAN to support one of our partners on-site in Miami, FL. The Principal Engineer will be joining a fast-growing satellite communications company that is building a global space-based cellular network to connect standard smartphones anywhere on Earth. This individual will be responsible for leading the technical integration of satellite and terrestrial radio networks, ensuring seamless connectivity and performance.

Responsibilities for the Principal Engineer – RAN include:

• Lead the design and integration of radio access networks across satellite and cellular systems
• Perform deep-dive troubleshooting across network layers (L1–L3)
• Conduct RF analysis, interference resolution, and performance tuning
• Validate handovers, call flows, and KPIs across satellite and terrestrial boundaries
• Collaborate with device manufacturers and internal teams to align RF interfaces
• Drive lab-to-field testing and automation of validation pipelines

Qualifications for the Principal Engineer – RAN include:

• 15–20+ years of telecom experience with deep expertise in LTE, 5G, VoLTE, and VoNR
• Strong background in RF protocols, Layer 3 decoding, and network troubleshooting
• Hands-on experience with tools like QXDM, TEMS, Accuver, and Wireshark
• Proven success in Tier-1 operator environments and multi-vendor RAN integration
• Must be eligible to work in the United States and pass a background check.

Compensation for the Principal Engineer – RAN include:

•  Salary Range: $120,000 - $145,000 *depending on experience*
