Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Microelectronics Systems Engineer to join a Federal Program in Arlington, VA. The Microelectronics Systems Engineer will be proactively support the Government Microelectronics Commons Program Manager in executing the microelectronics research and development strategy.

Responsibilities of the Microelectronics Systems Engineer include:

  • Monitor, prioritize, and respond quickly to tasks supporting customer success in evaluating strategic and technical approaches and aligning DoD initiatives.
  • Assist the Government Executive Director with project management and execution of Microelectronics Commons program activities.
  • Coordinate with Technical Area Leads to address technical and programmatic challenges and opportunities.
  • Support the Workforce Development Technical Lead in managing STEM-related initiatives.
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps, summaries, abstracts, briefs, whitepapers, and related documentation.
  • Assist in shaping microelectronics strategies, issue papers, briefings, and funding options for senior DoD leadership.
  • Evaluate technical proposals and provide recommendations for Microelectronics Commons projects.
  • Support oversight of prototyping facilities demonstrating system-level benefits of microelectronics innovations.
  • Engage with stakeholders across Services, industry, and academia to align technologies and workforce strategies with program goals.
  • Assist in developing, evaluating, and awarding Other Transaction Authority (OTA) Requests for Solutions (RFS).
  • Help plan and facilitate program reviews, meetings, and technical discussions.

 

Qualifications for the Microelectronics Systems Engineer include:

  • Bachelors degree and fourteen (14) years of experience; Master’s degree and twelve (12) years of experience; PhD and nine (9) years of experience.
  • Experience in technology development and hardware prototyping
  • Skilled in preparing and delivering technical briefings
  • Familiarity with DoD structure, budgeting, and inter-office coordination
  • Background in STEM workforce development
  • Experience in one or more DoD-critical tech areas: Secure edge/IoT, 5G/6G, AI hardware, quantum tech, electronic warfare, or commercial leap-ahead tech
  • Background in microelectronics prototyping
  • Experience organizing technical reviews or panels
  • Familiarity with OTA, BAA, or other non-traditional R&D contracting
  • Must have an Active TS/SCI Security Clearance

Compensation for the Microelectronics Systems Engineer includes:

  • Salary Range: $130,000 - $200,000 depending on experience
