Senior Project Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support a long-term, growing federal engineering team in Merrifield, VA.

Responsibilities of the Senior Project Engineer include: 

• Lead and support machine deployment, relocation, and reconfiguration projects, ensuring timely and efficient execution. 
• Provide technical support during deployment, commissioning, validation, and post-installation phases. 
• Conduct customer and field training sessions, ensuring users are well-versed in system operations. 
• Develop and maintain project documentation, including procedures, training materials, and support guides. 
• Modify or create PLC programs and HMI interfaces to meet project requirements. 

Qualifications for the Senior Project Engineer include: 

• 5+ years of experience in a Project Engineer or Project Manager role. 
• Experience with industrial control bus topologies, PLC programming, and HMI development. 
• Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills in industrial automation environments. 
• Demonstrated project management skills, including planning, execution, and stakeholder coordination. 
• Bachelor’s degree in related technical field. 
• Must be eligible to obtain a federal security clearance at the Public Trust level.  

Compensation for the Senior Project Engineer include: 

• Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000 **depending on experience**
