Job Summary:
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Mechanisms Engineer to support the assembly, integration, and testing of spaceflight mechanisms used in deploying a satellite constellation on-site in Midland, TX. This role plays a vital part in both initial development and ongoing support of mechanical systems, ensuring successful delivery to spacecraft integration and test teams.
Responsibilities of the Mechanisms Engineer:
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of mechanism designs based on insights from testing and production feedback.
- Lead and participate in testing activities, including defining test requirements, selecting materials and processes, and developing tooling for vibration, shock, thermal vacuum (TVAC), and assembly procedures.
- Engage in design evaluations, trade studies, and system-level analysis to optimize AI&T processes for simplicity, efficiency, and speed at both the component and spacecraft levels.
- Collaborate with design teams to enhance manufacturability, reduce costs, and streamline production layouts by applying expertise in design, fabrication, assembly, and materials.
- Compile and analyze data to generate reports on product and process performance, incorporating feedback from technicians and operators.
- Apply sound engineering judgment and adhere to established standards, procedures, and program requirements in design and analysis tasks.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
- Provide hands-on engineering support to manufacturing and production teams.
Qualifications of the Mechanisms Engineer:
- 4+ years of experience in aerospace or a related manufacturing engineering role.
- Familiarity with the development and testing of mechanical systems for space applications.
- Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.
- Comfortable adapting to a fast-paced, evolving work environment.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Compensation for the Mechanisms Engineer:
· $90,000-$100,000 per year (based on experience)
