Software Developer

Location: Merrifield, VA (Hybrid – 4 days onsite per week)

Compensation: $95,000 – $110,000 annually

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Software Developer to support the long-term maintenance and development of an automation control software. This role involves hands-on development in C and Python within a UNIX environment, supporting mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and enhance control software for postal automation systems
• Develop and support configuration management tools and processes
• Utilize Eclipse-like IDEs, GNU compilers, debugging tools, and Git
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support software testing, installations, and vendor interactions
• Occasionally travel for software deployments and meetings

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in C, Python, and UNIX-based development
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field
• Proficiency with Eclipse-like IDEs, GNU toolchains, and Git
• Eligibility for Public Trust clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with C++ or C# development on Windows platforms
• Familiarity with real-time operating systems and industrial automation
