Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support a cutting-edge program in Midland, TX. The team is seeking a skilled mechanisms engineer to participate in design improvements, test, and analysis of various space-flight mechanisms in support of the deployment of the world’s first space-based cellular network.


Work Authorization: Must be U.S. Citizen or permanent resident

Location: Midland, TX (100% on-site)

Responsibilities of the Senior Engineer:  

    

  • Play a pivotal role in both one-time and ongoing support activities related to mechanical systems and associated components, as well as in the successful delivery of the system for spacecraft integration and testing
  • Contribute to iterative improvements in mechanism design by analyzing findings from testing and production phases.
  • Lead and perform testing activities, including the development of test requirements, materials, processes, and tooling for vibration, shock, thermal vacuum (TVAC), and assembly procedures.
  • Participate in and conduct design, analysis, and system trade studies to evaluate Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) strategies at both system and spacecraft levels, focusing on workflow efficiency, ease of integration, test readiness, and production throughput.
  • Provide feedback to Design Engineering to enhance manufacturing workflows, reduce costs, and optimize layout by applying expertise in product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Generate product and process reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data, and incorporating insights from operators and technicians.
  • Apply sound engineering principles to execute design and analysis tasks in compliance with established business standards, procedures, and program requirements.
  • Investigate anomalies and failures, perform root cause analyses, and implement effective resolutions.
  • Deliver manufacturing engineering support to production teams to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement.

 Qualifications of the Senior Engineer:  

   

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident
  • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: 2+ years previous experience as an aerospace or similar manufacturing engineer.
  • Knowledge/experience of mechanism development and testing for space hardware.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with other engineers.

Compensation of the Senior Engineer:  


  • Total compensation based on experience level - $80,000 - $95,000+ **based on experience level**
