Satellite Mechanical Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is hiring a Satellite Mechanical Engineer – Launch Operations to support satellite integration, testing, and pre-launch activities. This hands-on, field-based role demands strong mechanical engineering skills, clear communication, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. You’ll be fully onsite in Cape Canaveral, FL, ensuring satellites are safely managed and properly integrated with the launch vehicle.

Responsibilities for the Satellite Mechanical Engineer:

• Coordinate with launch providers and ground teams to meet mechanical/interface requirements.
• Develop and execute procedures for lifting, securing, pressurization, and environmental controls.
• Ensure all hardware and processes meet safety, quality, and launch provider standards.
• Oversee satellite handling, transport, and final mating with the launch vehicle.
• Ensure safe and proper use of mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE).
• Support launch campaigns with final checkouts, troubleshooting, and anomaly resolution.
• Serve as the on-site mechanical lead for satellite-to-launch vehicle integration.
• Collaborate with mission assurance to confirm readiness.
• Work cross-functionally with systems, electrical, and software teams to resolve issues.

Qualifications of the Satellite Mechanical Engineer:

• 5+ years of experience in satellite launch operations or satellite integration and testing.
• Experience with launch vehicle integration and satellite mechanical systems, including structures, thermal, and deployment mechanisms.
• Experience with mechanical CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and engineering documentation.
• Comfortable with domestic and international travel.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree is preferred).
• Must be eligible to obtain a federal clearance.

Compensation for the Satellite Mechanical Engineer:

• Salary: $85,000-150,000/year *flexible based on experience*
