Tier 3 Network Engineer

We’re seeking a Network Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) to deliver Tier 3 sustainment support for a mission-critical IP voice transport network at Fort Meade, MD. This position requires extensive expertise in optimizing, implementing, and maintaining complex networks with a focus on security, high availability, and performance. The SME will collaborate closely with operations teams, management, and customer stakeholders to ensure the network remains secure and operates at peak efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and maintain enterprise network optimizations using industry best practices.
• Handle escalated Tier 3 network and security support issues.
• Conduct independent network assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and develop innovative solutions.
• Lead the creation and maintenance of network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures, including Engineering Implementation Plans (EIPs).
• Oversee network monitoring, capacity planning, backups, and recovery processes.
• Review ACAS scanning reports and collaborate with program ISSM/ISSO to address findings

Education, Experience, & Skills

• Active Top Secret/SCI with Poly clearance.
• Security+ 8570 certification.
• Bachelor’s degree with 12-15 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 10-13 years of experience (or equivalent work experience at Hiring Manager’s discretion).
• 10+ years of experience in network engineering and troubleshooting, including proficiency in MPLS, VPNs, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS), switching protocols (Spanning Tree, VLANs, LLDP), VoIP, Multicast protocols, and emerging technologies.
