Zachary Piper Solutions is hiring a Senior Specialty Engineer with an active Top Secret clearance and experience in defense weapon systems to join our energized team in support of an exciting variety of programs in Alexandria, Virginia in a hybrid remote capacity.
Zachary Piper Solutions supports the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) customers to cultivate and develop innovative solutions to address common concerns of reliable and maintainable weapon systems. Zachary Piper Solutions also provides technical expertise to improve the state-of-practice to pursue crosscutting issues across the acquisition community and within the systems engineering enterprise.
As a key team member, you will assist OUSD(R&E) in advancing the practice of Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) engineering focused on the sustainment of reliable and maintainable weapon systems. You will regularly work with the R&M community of practice and DoD senior executives. You will review OUSD(R&E) modernization priorities and related technologies, legislation, policies, procedures, practices, guidance, standards, handbooks, tools, DoD workforce skills and training, in coordination with OUSD(R&E) organizations, DoD Components, other federal agencies, and academic and industry partners. Highly qualified candidates will have additional experience with model-based systems engineering and/or software development (including software reliability).
Specialty Systems Engineer Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and participate in sustainment initiatives
- Provide expertise in R&M Body of Knowledge and workforce training
- Support the annual R&M Symposium (RAMS)
- Implement Model Based Systems Engineering and SysML in R&M activities
- Conduct analysis of alternatives for new analytics development
- Collaborate with engineering teams on requirements and deployment
- Prepare presentations, reports, and other documentation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of experience or Master's degree with 7+ years of experience in engineering, science, or a technical discipline
- An active Top Secret clearance
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Experience in planning and coordinating senior-level technical reviews
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to convey complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience in R&M Engineering
- At least one active professional certification in R&M (e.g., ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer)
Compensation:
- Starting pay range: $150,000 - $180,000
