JOB DESCRIPTION

Systems Administrators provide state-of-the-art system administration solutions and support for hardware and software platforms to include Government-off-the-shelf (GOTS) and COTS applications that reside on them. Hardware and software supported include: application servers, web servers, print servers, virtual file servers, reporting tools, etc., and all tasks associated with their backup/recovery, performance, and operations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Install, maintain, configure and optimize PC and Network Operating Systems, to include but not limited to Microsoft, Uniplexed Information and Computing System (UNIX), Linux, Cloud Computing Environment, and VMware server operating systems.
  • Provide technical support, analysis, data management, and server management to sustain the operational computing environment.
  • Design, implement, and maintain policies and procedures in support of, but not limited to, data storage/back-up/recovery, server software and firmware upgrades, and standard server maintenance. Support shall include the design, implementation, and/or on-going sustainment of Microsoft Active Directory to include forest creation, establishment or trust relationship, and account creation and maintenance.
  • Maintain currency of knowledge with respect to relevant, state-of- the-art hardware, software, solution sets, etc., in order to provide innovative solutions and recommendations.
  • Provide all areas of Data-Center Program Technical Support to include site assessments, preventive maintenance, and emergency and corrective services. Data-Center Administration shall include datacenter planning and design, power and cooling analysis, feasibility studies, risk assessments, site surveys, energy usage assessments, optimization evaluations, and relocation and consolidation services.
  • Develop a comprehensive life-cycle management plan to include a technology implementation roadmap. Data-Center surveys shall include providing the equipment reconfiguration requirements, developing floor plan layouts, estimating bills- of-material, identifying data communication requirements and shortfalls, verifying power distribution and environmental in order to meet mission critical requirements.
  • Management of UNIX, Linux, Solaris, Macintosh, Windows, VMware and other operating systems.
  • Remediate all security vulnerabilities on all servers, desktops and infrastructure devices to meet security and operational requirements.
  • Provide remote management, monitoring, and visibility to assets throughout the organization and environment.
  • Provide support to include the creation and deployment of customized packages to meet operational requirements and remediate security vulnerabilities.
  • Provide infrastructure management and monitoring capabilities to include the server, network (wired and wireless), and virtualization environments.
  • Design, implement, and support other enterprise level applications to include, but not limited to, enterprise log collection, and asset portfolio management.
  • Support, maintain, and upgrade the RHC-A operating systems, patching packages and hardware upgrades.
  • Architect and engineer subsequent upgrades to the Virtual Infrastructure.
  • Provide services to assist with the management of the organization’s Virtual Infrastructure Life Cycle Framework.
  • Support enterprise level technologies.
  • Assist with the design, configuration, implementation and maintenance of the Disaster Site Recovery plan.
  • Installing and maintain Windows 2008, 2012, 2016 and Linux base operating systems.
  • Advanced knowledge troubleshooting New Technology File System (NTFS) file share and managing Distributed File Systems (DFS) serve.
  • Evaluate, plan, provide requirements analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, training, and sustainment of COTS and GOTS web-based and mobile applications and systems.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

  • Secret Clearance required
  • VCP and Security+ certification required
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, business, Communications or related field.
  • Thorough knowledge with DoD audit readiness requirements and Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Must have seven (7) years system engineering and administration support experience in a large enterprise (5000+ user) environment.
    • Must have five (5) years’ experience in deploying and managing Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name System (DNS) and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) for a large enterprise environment (5000+ user) environment.
    • Must have five (5) years’ experience installing, configuring and managing virtual environments leveraging Virtual Machine (VM)ware and Storage Area Network (SAN) in a large enterprise environment.
    • Must have five (5) years’ experience installing, configuring and managing datacenter infrastructure, switches, routers, CAT6 and fiber cabling.
    • Thorough knowledge of Group Policy creation, migration and permissions management, security settings enforcement.
    • Thorough knowledge and proficiency supporting Microsoft Windows servers’ 2008R2/2012/2016 or current version.
    • Thorough knowledge and proficiency supporting Microsoft Windows 7, Windows 10 and Apple operating systems.
    • Must have experience managing Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) responder and DoD-PKI technology.
    • Advanced hands-on account management for Active Directory users, computers, groups and service accounts.
    • Advanced hands-on experience with enterprise Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) or HP C-Class blades.
    • Advanced ability to script using PowerShell.
    • Current Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE): Core Infrastructure.
    • Must possess required certifications per DoD 8570.1M for privileged level access. Current Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) certification.
    • Experience in assembling technical documents and providing detailed analysis of various business system functions
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Word, Excel, Access, Project Management, Power Point and Visio.
    • Experience in patch management using Microsoft SCCM, Tanium, and GovLan.  Other patch management such as Local Area Network (LAN)Desk or Kace skill set can be a substitute.
    • Current VMware Certified Professional (VCP) preferred.
    • Experience using Emergency Management Center (EMC) SAN mirror, snapshot and replication is highly desirable
